British singer and songwriter Olivia Dean debuted on Saturday Night Live performing two songs from his second studio album, The art of lovingwhich came out in September.
Dean who was just nominated for Best New Artist at the following year's Grammy Awards, began with the words “The man I need“
The song is “about knowing how much you deserve to be loved and not being afraid to ask for it,” Dean said in a statement following its release earlier this year. “It's sassy, sexy and fun! It's made for dancing!”
Dean co-wrote “Man I Need” with Zach Nahome and Tobias Jesso Jr., 2023 Grammy Award winner for Songwriter of the Year. This year he is nominated for this award again.
Dean's second performance was “Let Alone the One You Love”, the sixth track from her latest album.
“We made most of this album in a studio we built in a house in east London,” the 26-year-old musician wrote on Instagram, teasing. “We lived in a house of love for 8 weeks! I brought my piano and all my favorite people from home and tried to create things that felt warm. Here is a piece of my heart!”
The art of loving received wide praise.
