Ole Miss’ Trinidad Chambliss has jerseys stolen before rivalry game, coach says

Ole Miss Rebels Mississippi State fans stole two jerseys from quarterback Trinidad Chambliss before their competitive game in the Egg Bowl, head coach Lane Kiffin said Friday.

Kiffin made the revelation while speaking with the SEC Network before the game. He said the school's equipment manager set up cameras in the locker room Thursday night only to see fans rushing in. He said the school reported its first theft in Mississippiwhich increased security in their locker room. However, he said fans broke in again early Friday morning and stole Chambliss' jerseys.

“I think you expect no less from these people,” Kiffin said.

Fox News Digital has reached out to Mississippi for comment. The Egg Bowl game between the two schools took place in Starkville, Mississippi.

It was a game that meant a little more to Kiffin and Ole Miss, as the head coach's future was in question and the Rebels could have earned a berth in the SEC championship if they won.

Just before kickoff, Kiffin was asked how he kept his players focused in the game and not distracted by outside noise.

“They have been struggling with this for many weeks now, so we are focused on 1-0. There's a lot at stake here,” he said. “Rivalry games, records don’t mean anything. But to get 11 wins, we have to become the first team in the history of this state. That would be amazing. But we will have to play very consistently and play very good football for four quarters.”

Chambliss, a Division II transfer from Ferris State, didn't seem alarmed. alleged theft. He led Ole Miss down the field and scored touchdowns on their first two drives.
