Old School RuneScape will release a new skill for the first time after its launch in 2013

  • Sailing is a brand new skill coming to OSRS next month.
  • Go beyond Gielinor, fight sea monsters, visit new lands
  • The update will be released on November 19.

Have you ever wondered what lies beyond Gielinor? Soon you'll find out because Old School RuneScape is heading into uncharted waters this November as the new Sailing skill is about to release. This is a big deal for MMO fans because it's the first fresh expansion in over a decade. This is the kind of update that will make veterans dust off their capes and get ready for another race to 99.

It all starts in Pandemonium, a new dock that serves as your home between expeditions. Here you will take your ship, repair it and begin to build routes to new islands. The race to reach level 99 also returns, with an exclusive Sailing Skill Cape created by community member Gentle Tractor awaiting the first person to cross the finish line.

From there, you'll set a course for islands like the Great Shell, where the Restless Tortugans questline is located, and discover hidden locations with your trusty spyglass. Once you reach level 30, Barracuda's high-stakes tracks promise to test your skills and endurance. You'll always wonder if that shadow underwater was just a trick of the light or something worse.

The update also cleverly combines combat and crafting. Get ready to battle krakens, killer whales, frost dragons, and griffins while rescuing sunken ships, breaking open crates, and hunting for pirate treasure for your reward. You will also brew potions to strengthen your team. What I like most is that it all flows naturally into the world rather than feeling like a separate mini-game.

Swimming for Old School RuneScape participants starts on November 19th. And if you're still hungry to explore new worlds, our list best role-playing games on Android should keep you busy, although to be fair you may already have your hands full mapping the high seas of Gielinor.
