Old School Runescape Is Introducing a New Skill This November

Set sail in Old School Runescape

Yageks, LLC has officially announced that the long-awaited sailing skill will be coming to Old School RuneScape on November 19th. This marks a major milestone for the beloved MMORPG, introducing the uncharted waters of Gielinor. Players will soon be able to explore, trade and fight across the seas with their own ships. The race to reach level 99 returns with this update, offering the exclusive Sailing Skill Cape, created by community member Gentle Tractor, as a reward for those who have mastered the art of sailing.

Players will begin their sea journey in Pandemonium, a bustling port that serves as home between expeditions. From there, they can master the basics and set off on ocean adventures aboard their own customizable ships. The update introduces new locations such as Great Shell Island, where players will encounter the Restless Tortugan questline and meet new NPCs. With a spyglass in hand, captains can explore scattered islands and bustling ports, each offering their own quests and challenges, including the daring barracuda trails that unlock at level 30.

The seas offer both danger and reward: krakens, frost dragons, killer whales and griffins become new threats. Intrepid explorers can plunder sunken ships, solve mysteries, and collect treasures in search of riches and experience. Shipbuilding becomes an integral part of the game experience as you can upgrade and strengthen ships using materials collected through other skills such as logging, farming, fishing and herbalism.

Along with the new skill, you'll also receive rare rewards such as a griffin pet, a cornucopia, an aquanite bunker, and an exclusive sailing pet. Sailing will be available to RuneScape members in Old School RuneScape on November 19th on PC, Steam, iOS and Android, providing full cross-platform play and progression.
