Octopath Traveler Series Has Sold Over 6 Million Copies Worldwide

The Octopathic Traveler's Journey Continues

Square Enix's HD 2D RPG series Octopath Traveler has reached another major sales milestone, continuing its steady growth since its debut. The publisher recently confirmed that the franchise has sold over six million copies worldwide across all platforms. This marks a significant jump from December last year, when total sales stood at five million.

The update will arrive shortly after the release of Octopath Traveler 0 on all major platforms earlier this month. Enix Square takes into account both physical shipments and digital purchases, reflecting the series' broad appeal across all formats and regions. To celebrate this milestone, the company also shared new commemorative artwork and announced a limited-time sale covering several pieces from the series.

Octopath Traveler first released as a Switch exclusive in 2018 and introduced its now-signature HD 2D visual style, combining pixelated characters with detailed 3D environments. Since then, the franchise has expanded with several mainline installments and a mobile prequel, attracting a devoted global audience.

The latest entry, Octopath Traveler 0, adds a few new ideas to the familiar formula. Players create their own hero using a custom character creator and take on the task of rebuilding their destroyed hometown. Progress relies heavily on a new city-building system that ties narrative progression to player choice and progression.

Square Enix has also made the game easier for new players to pick up. A playable demo is currently available and progress from the demo carries over to the full version. This release follows the recent Octopath Traveler 0 update, which further improves the gameplay experience as the series continues to grow.
