Former President Barack Obama – scolded Latino voters during a conversation with podcast host and comedian Marc Maron published Monday for supporting President Donald Trump in 2024 over inflation fears.

Obama said the country and its progressive wing are being “tested” right now. The former president said he and Maron are part of a generation that sees things getting better over time, but said their positions have never been seriously tested.

“I think it was easy to say, well, yeah, I’m a progressive. But it didn’t cost us anything,” the former president said.

“We could take a position on things that we thought were right, but they were never tested,” he added. “We are being tested now. I think people, including young people, understand that the choices we make have consequences. If you choose not to vote, there is a consequence. If you're a Latino and you're frustrated with inflation and so you decide, you know what, all this rhetoric about Trump doesn't matter, I'm just mad about inflation.
