“We want to dedicate this to our dear friend, our hero, the one and only Gary 'Money' Mounfield,” says Liam Gallagher at the penultimate reunion show.
Oasis honored the deceased Stone Roses Bassist Gary”ManiMounfield on Saturday night during a performance at MorumBIS Stadium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.. Death of Mounfield at age 63, his brother confirmed on Thursday.
“We want to dedicate this to our dear friend, our hero, the one and only Gary 'Money' Mounfield,” the singer said. Liam Gallagher said before the band launched into “Live Forever.” Towards the end of the song, an image of Mani appeared on the video screen behind them, which the group turned to face.
Before they performed their next song, Gallagher introduced it by saying, “Money can have this one too, 'Rock and Roll Star.'
Gallagher previously paid tribute to Mounfield on social media when the news broke. “TOTALLY SHOCKED AND ABSOLUTELY DISAPPOINTED HEARING THE NEWS ABOUT MANI, MY HERO, RIP RCID LG,” he wrote. His brother and bandmate Noel Gallagher posted photo of Mounfield with the caption: “Rest in peace brother. It was nice meeting you.”

He emphatically followed this up with, “YES, I’M DAMN SERIOUS.” However, when a fan asked about returning to the road in 2027, he left the door open as a possibility. “Maybe,” he wrote.
