Nottingham Forest took to social media around 20 minutes after Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Chelsea to announce that football The club were leaving manager Ange Postecoglou after just 39 days at the helm.

“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that following a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” the statement read.

“The club will not be making any further comment at this time.”

Forest have lost eight games under Australian boss who just replaced Nuno Espirito Santo on September 9th.

Postecoglou's turbulent tenure followed another departure from another English football club in June, when he was sacked by Tottenham despite the club's 17-year drought ending with a Europa League final victory over Manchester United.

Poor results, including a 17th-place finish in the Premier League – Tottenham's lowest placing since the competition's inception in 1992 – paved the way for the decision.
