Normand Brathwaite ému comme jamais

Since I was a co-organizer Belle and Boom Normand Brathwaite and I formed a beautiful and sincere friendship in 2003. He even came to my wedding! A month ago, Normand invited me to attend the unveiling of a mural of him by Laurent Gascon on the corner of Rouen and Wurtele streets in Ville-Marie. I knew he was touched by this popular tribute, which was a sign that he was deeply loved by the Quebec public.

But in an interview on my show In the whites of the eyes On Friday night at LCN, Norman frankly admitted to me that the unveiling of this mural, along with the birth of his children, represented one of the two most beautiful moments of his life. Another highlight was when he received a medal from the National Assembly of Quebec to highlight his commitment to women in music, among other things at the show. Belle and Boom.

I knew, of course, that Norman was the envy of the artistic community (because of his financial success, his many commitments, his success that never wavered), but I never thought that he would tell me that this was what he suffered most from during all the years of his career.

I also knew that Norman had encountered harassing, aggressive people along the way who were harming his mental health. But I didn't think he would tell me in an interview that in recent months he had crossed paths with two troubled individuals.

As you already understood, this interview with Normand happened from surprise to surprise. And when the interview ended, Normand was still telling funny jokes to his work colleagues in the QUB corridor.

Normand really touched me this summer when he spoke from the heart at Serge Fiori's funeral. He also touched me by speaking from the heart In the whites of the eyes.
