No, we don’t have to wait until 2030 for Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic

Veteran developer and director of the upcoming Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic Casey Hudson has denied rumors that players will have to wait years for the release of the new game.

While Bloomberg's Jason Schreier proposed that a 2030 release “is an *optimistic* assumption,” given that Hudson's studio, Arcanaut, was only founded in July, Hudson was quick to correct that record.

“Don't worry about the 'not until 2030' rumors,” Hudson wrote on X/Twitter. “The game will be released earlier. I'm not getting any younger!

New single-player Star Wars RPG unveiled at The Game Awards only days after rumors swirled that a new KOTOR game could be on the way.

Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, now recognized as the spiritual successor to BioWare's Knights of the Old Republic, hails from Arcanaut Studios and Casey Hudson, who was BioWare's Star Wars game director and Mass Effect. It will be “an epic interactive adventure through a galaxy on the brink of rebirth, where every decision determines your path to light or darkness.”

“When we developed the original KOTOR, we wanted to create a complete Star Wars experience—to create an adventure that was everything we dreamed of as Star Wars fans,” Hudson said when the game was announced.

“Now, 25 years after we started working on this game, our aspirations are just as ambitious. “Fate of the Old Republic represents an opportunity to explore a modern vision of the full Star Wars experience using the latest technology and game design, as well as an entirely new story created specifically to combine player agency with the Star Wars immersion that was at the core of KOTOR.”
