The owner of the Japanese platform Nintendo said it plans to acquire Bandai Namco Studios Singapore.
In a message to investorsThe Mario giant said it has entered into an agreement to buy 80% of the developer's shares on April 1, 2026, before returning for the remaining shares at another point in the future.
Once the deal is completed, Bandai Namco Studios Singapore will become a new subsidiary of Nintendo and will be renamed Nintendo Studios Singapore.
Bandai Namco Studios Singapore was founded back in 2013 and has worked on games such as Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown and Soul Calibur 6, as well as Tekkens 7 and 8. The studio also supported the development of Splatoon 3. The studio recently released the original game. Hirogamideveloped in collaboration with Bandai Namco Studios Malaysia.
“BNSS was founded as one of Bandai Namco Group's overseas bases and is a development company with extensive experience in creating in-game art assets,” the Switch company told its shareholders.
“She has contributed to the development of Nintendo games, including the Splatoon series, and maintains an ongoing business relationship with Nintendo. Taking into account this business experience, Nintendo has decided to acquire shares of BNSS to strengthen the development structure of the Nintendo Group.”

Historically, Nintendo has not been an acquisitive business, but in recent years the house of Mario has begun buying up companies with which it has long-term business relationships.
