Nick Rayner, arrested on suspicion of murdering his parents Rob Reiner and Michelle Singer Reinerwill not be in court Tuesday for medical reasons, his lawyer Alan Jackson said.
Jackson spoke to reporters outside the courthouse in Los Angeles. He said he doesn't know what his client's medical problem is, but Nick Reiner won't appear in court until Wednesday.
Greg Risling, a spokesman for the district attorney's office, also told CBS News Los Angeles on Tuesday that it was his “understanding” that Nick Reiner “is a medical failure today.”
Nick Rayner, 32, was arrested Sunday and is being held in jail without bond. He was arrested a few hours after his parents found dead at his home in the upscale Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, police said.
The night before the murders, the Reiners attended a party at Conan O'Brien's, during which Rob and Nick Reiner got into an argument, sources who also attended the party told CBS News.
Police have not released any information about evidence in the case or what led them to make the arrest.

He was an outspoken liberal activist for decades. Michelle Singer Reiner was a photographer, film producer, and LGBTQ+ rights advocate. They were married for 36 years.

Nick Reiner co-wrote the screenplay and Rob Reiner directed the film about the struggles of a drug-addicted son and a famous father. It was not autobiographical, but included several elements of their lives.
“It made us understand ourselves better than before,” Rob Reiner told the AP in 2016. “I told Nick while we were doing it, I said, 'You know, it doesn't matter, whatever happens to this thing, we've already won.'
Rob Reiner has long been one of Hollywood's most prolific directors, and his work included some of the most memorable and endlessly watchable films of the 1980s and '90s, including This Is Spinal Tap and A Few Good Men.
