“FC Dallas forward Mikko Rantanen has been given an automatic one-game suspension under Rule 23.6, Physical Violation Category,” the NHL Department of Player Safety said in a statement. “In Regular Season League games, any player who incurs a total of two (2) game violation penalties in the physical infraction category before playing 41 consecutive games in the Regular Season League without such penalty shall be automatically suspended from participating in his team's next League game.”
It was Rantanen's second major penalty and game violation in six periods. He was ejected in the final minute of Tuesday's game against the New York Islanders after receiving a boarding penalty for hitting Alexander Romanov.
