Welcome to Year 14 Week!
When this end of the season comes, almost every game has some kind of playoff implicationsand that was definitely the case Monday night. Chargers remained firmly in the AFC playoff picture after beating Eagles, 22–19, in overtime thriller.
If the Chargers had lost, they would have dropped to eighth place in the AFC, which would have put them in the underdog position. Instead, the Chargers will now head into Week 15 as the fifth seed in the conference.
Los Angeles' win was one of several big games during Week 14, which pitted three first- and second-place teams from the same division against each other.
Here's a quick overview of these three games:
- AFC South: Jaguars made a statement with their 36-19 win over Colts a team that suddenly faltered. At 9-4, it feels like the Jags are now in complete control of the division, especially after the Colts just lost. Daniel Jones due to a season-ending Achilles injury.
- AFK North: Just when you thought Mike Tomlin might be in the spotlight, he comes out and leads his team to their biggest win of the season. Tomlin Steelers took control of the division, destroying Baltimore Ravens in a 27-22 win.
- NFK North: Packers moved to the top of the division with a 28-21 win over the team. Bears in Green Bay. With the loss, the Bears dropped from first place in the NFC to seventh, just one spot ahead of the Lions, which could certainly add drama to the NFC North race down the stretch.
Sunday evening also featured a big game with Texans go to Kansas City and shoot down Managers20-10. The Chiefs' playoff hopes aren't officially dead yet, but they're definitely on life support after the loss.
However, we're not here to talk about the playoffs. We're here to talk about scores, so let's get into them, starting with the Chargers' win over the Eagles.
