NFL power rankings: Steelers rank near bottom among playoff teams

The 2025 NFL Playoffs are just around the corner and the latest power rankings aren't doing the team any favors. Pittsburgh Steelersclinching the AFC North title after a Week 18 win over the team Baltimore Ravens.

According to the latest NFL Network power rankings ahead of the Wild Card round of the playoffs, Steelers were listed as the No. 12 team, the worst of all AFC teams to make the postseason and just ahead of Green Bay Packers (No. 13) and Carolina Panthers (No. 14).

Here's what NFL Network's Eric Edholm had to say about the Steelers' placement:

“…Pittsburgh had won four of five games heading into Monday's showdown with Houston, although it would be wrong to call this team playoff hot,” Edholm wrote. “It was a tough win on Sunday, as well as a loss to Brownshas provided more than enough healthy skepticism about the Steelers' postseason chances — starting with this first game in which they are home underdogs.

“The return of DK Metcalf could potentially be a game-changer as he was sorely missed during his two-game suspension. But we're still watching Aaron Rodgers as his future continues to hang in the air as this team clings to postseason life. Moving the ball consistently against a vicious Texans defense will be a major challenge.”

It's hard to argue with Edholm's “healthy skepticism” since the Steelers haven't had much playoff success over the last decade, but something about this postseason run feels different — despite a disappointing 10-7 record heading into the wild card matchup against the Steelers. Houston Texans.
