“The referees are the worst,” Nacua said. “These guys want to be… these guys are lawyers. They also want to be on television. You don't think he's texting his friends in the group chat like, “Hey, you guys just saw me on Sunday Night Football.” It wasn't the PI, but I called him.”

In the video, Ross instructed Nacua to spear the ball, bend it, and then rub his hands together after landing. The move appears to perpetuate a harmful anti-Jewish stereotype. Before the game, he released a statement apologizing for this.

“When I went live on social media the other day, I was asked to perform a certain move as part of my next touchdown celebration. At the time, I had no idea that this act was anti-Semitic and perpetuated harmful stereotypes about Jewish people,” Nacua said in the graphic video “Confronting Jewish Hate.” “I deeply apologize to anyone who was offended by my actions as I do not support any form of racism, bigotry or hatred of another group of people.”

The NFL also released a statement about Nacua's actions.

“The NFL strongly condemns all forms of discrimination and derogatory behavior directed towards any group or individual,” the league said. “The continued rise of anti-Semitism must be addressed around the world, and the NFL will continue to support our partners in this fight. Hate has no place in our sport or society.”

The controversy didn't seem to distract Nacua as he put together one of the best games of his career.

He had 12 catches for 225 yards and two touchdowns. He didn't do the celebratory trick Ross told him to do.
