NFL insider with latest nugget on Colts’ QB Anthony Richardson

Fowler discussed Minnesota Vikings'quarterback situation with current uncertainty surrounding JJ McCarthy. He mentioned two names: San Francisco's Mac Jones and Houston's Davis Mills, both of whom are under contract with their teams through 2026.

Fowler then turned around and picked up Richardson.

“O'Connell also respects Richardson, who could be the next reclamation QB to succeed elsewhere,” Fowler wrote. “Richardson is interested in playing for the wooden coach Sean McVay, either the man himself or a student like O'Connell.”

Nothing said here is groundbreaking, but it is another reminder that Richardson's tenure as President Colts is most likely nearing its end.

Given the success that Daniel Jones has had this season, it is only a matter of time before negotiations on a long-term contract begin. One NFL Insider recently reported When are these conversations expected to begin?

Richardson is still under contract through the 2026 season, not to mention he also has a fifth-year option for the 2027 season.

The Colts could keep Richardson to continue backing up Jones, or they could trade him and get some draft capital in return.
