The NFL is asking all teams to observe a moment of silence on Sunday for the Dallas Cowboys rookie. Marshawn Nilandwho died last week, ESPN reported.
League reportedly sent out a memo to all teams on Friday asking for a minute's silence, followed by a message on the jumbotrons that read: “If you or someone you know is struggling or needs emotional support, please call or text 988. The Suicide and Crisis Helpline is available 24/7.”

Niland died early Thursday morning, just days after recording his first album. NFL landing Monday evening.
The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Frisco Police Department later released statements confirming that Niland died of a self-inflicted gunshot injured after police chase in Texas.

Niland's agent Jonathan Perzley paid tribute to the young NFL player in a lengthy statement, remembering him for his “spirit” and “kindness.”
“I saw him make his way from a hopeful child to West Michigan with dreams of becoming a respected professional with the Dallas Cowboys. Marshawn poured his heart into every frame, every practice and every moment on the field. Losing someone with his talent, spirit and kindness is a pain I can barely put into words.”
DPS officers attempted a traffic stop around 10:33 p.m. when the driver, later identified as Niland, refused to stop, officials said. Authorities began pursuing but eventually lost sight of Niland's car, ending the pursuit.

His car was later found abandoned, and authorities found Niland dead nearby.
Frisco police, who assisted DPS in the pursuit, released a statement saying the abandoned vehicle was found by troopers “minutes later” and that Niland is believed to have fled on foot.
Police said during the search they learned that “Niland was expressing suicidal thoughts.”
Niland was in his second season with the Cowboys after being selected 56th overall. 2024 NFL Draft. His death came just days after he recorded his first NFL touchdown in a game against the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night.
