“Democracy requires flexibility,” Newsom’s office wrote in a message accompanying the image.

Governor of California was ridiculed online after video of his appearance at The New York Times DealBook summit on Wednesday showed him sitting with his legs tightly crossed, prompting a wave of humorous comments on social media.

“I've never seen a man crush his testicles harder than this dude,” one user said.

The exaggerated photo of the press office sparked another wave of memes and jokes from users questioning whether the governor's team actually intended to release it.

“They… published it?” one person wrote.

Newsom himself reacted to the viral photo, writing on X: “WOW!”
