California Governor Gavin Newsom is showing every sign of wanting to run for president in 2028.
Of course, the problem for him is this: Why would anyone vote for him for president when he has failed so badly in his current position?
He has failed on many issues, including the Palisades fire and homelessness. He even failed when it came to the menopause bill, as Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry explained while speaking out against it during The New York Times' DealBook summit. Newsom vetoed the bill, and Berry said it devalued women. What made her remarks even better was that she made it shortly before he spoke at the same summit, so he could end up in that extremely crossed, “testicle-crushing” sitting position. It went viral and everyone made fun of him for it.
Hot Takes: The Internet has a ball making fun of Newsom's eyebrow-raising sitting posture
Since then, Newsom has been trying to climb out of the hole.
First, regarding Berry. On Thursday he said that she had just “didn't know” that he actually planned to do something about the menopause bill. He said he was going to include it in next year's budget and was concerned about the higher costs. Here's a way to clean up after the fact, buddy. He was no doubt aware that she had communicated his failures to a vital group of people that he would desperately need for any future race: women.
He then tried to deal with ridicule about his “testicle squashing” stance. But I think it's safe to say that with these efforts he created a whole new problem. I suspect a lot of memes will be born from this.

Oh god, I don't think this is the flexibility he thinks it is. If this demonstrates his merits as president, it doesn't say much.
Now you know, as far as his and the press account are concerned, the hottest takes are gold. And they wonder why they lose men. I don't think they understand social media and what people will do with this post.
Mark Mitchell of Rasmussen couldn't believe they published it.
They…Published this? https://t.co/7Jb4mYwmdF

Newsom is apparently trying to take the strange crown from Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
It really does feel like a Howard Dean moment. That's when Dean Scream showed what a weirdo he was to most normal people in January 2004, and it completely ended his presidency.
