What to expect
This is a new era when Sullivan brought his two -time experience in Stanley's Cup to the original six franchise, not far from a trip to the final of the 2024 eastern conference. Last season, it was a huge disappointment, from the drama surrounding Captain Jacob Pipe, until he was exchanged in an aheim in December, to the best players of Mika Zibanezhad and Adam Fox. When hiring Sullivan, General Director Chris Druri counts on one of the best coaches in sports, which will become larger from the entire composition. The rangers have a talent to get into the play -off, and this is waiting.
Strengths and weaknesses
Good: goalkeeper Igor Shesterkin, starting a new long -term contract, gives his team a chance to win every time he starts. He can also steal games and can again be in the mix for The Vezina Trophy, which he won in 2022. Russian Artemy Panarin goes in the last year of his deal and was one of the stars whose game did not sink last season, producing at a more point pace.
Not very good: the depth of the blue line is the question after the upper combination of Fox and the recently signed Vladislav Gavrikov. Much is expected from the young defender Braden Schneider, who leaves the operation on his shoulder. Kreider trade on ducks opens a void for those who can stand in front of the network and dial a puck for purposes. Recently called the captain, the Top Center JT Miller is also responsible for creating a strong culture in the locker room after there was a blow last season.
Players to watch
Zibanezhad, opening the season on the right wing of Miller, is firmly in the spotlight to bounce from minus 22. Opportunities are also in the first six for Alexis Lafrener, and they will play big roles. Gavrikov, signed for a seven -year contract for $ 49 million in a free agency, was involved in the stabilizing force in defense and freed Fox to play more as a guy who won the Norris trophy in 2021.
