I'm going to sound like a drama queen but LG The OLED C4 has completely changed my living room gaming experience. Before investing in a gaming TV just this year, I avoided traditional console sessions on the couch due to my dim old LED panel.
The only problem is that as we approach 2026, best gaming tv the challenger will soon be two generations old. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, and I made an active decision to choose the C4 over the new OLED C5 in 2025. Cause? Well, I always try to buy generation technologies at the end of their life cycle to save money, but I wouldn't say that the benefits included in new models are worth paying top dollar for them unless you're an ultra-enthusiast.
You might be wondering why I'm telling you to buy a 2024 TV in 2026, especially since the LG OLED C6 will likely hit the market this year. I believe that as a gaming screen the C4 will give you good brightness, refresh rate and brightness, and once these new models arrive it will be harder to find at the lowest price.
By and large, the differences between generations of LG OLED C-series TVs are insignificant. Yes, the latest generation panels boast improved Tandem RGB technology that goes above and beyond in terms of clarity and brightness, but the C4 models still feature MLA+ (Micro Lens Array) technology that boosts brightness and colors compared to regular OLED screens. If you're really nerdy about things like color purity and higher nit counts, then you'll naturally want to look at the newer models, but if you're just looking for a great PS5, Xbox or Switch 2 experience, it's worth saving some money for a slightly older version.
That doesn't mean I don't value top-end TV specs, and if money weren't a factor, I'd buy a flagship model in 2026. LG OLED G4 I was amazed that the difference is not that significant in terms of brightness and HDR clarity.
Ultimately, I believe most of you will be delighted if you can purchase the LG OLED C4 in 2026. It's currently my daily driver in the living room and hopefully will stay that way for a few more years. Every time I sit down to play the Switch 2 in TV mode or dive into my PS5 collection, I'm always caught off guard by the vibrant graphics and screen sharpness, not to mention the fact that being able to hit 144Hz on PC still feels like a brand new experience.
The OLED C4 isn't the only screen, and you'll still want to consider all options when making the leap to 2026. This recommendation absolutely comes from a place of subjective personal use rather than me declaring a winner from each option, and if you can snag an LG display at an all-time low, I'd do so early in the year.
