New World: Aeternum Is Ending New Content After Season 10

Amazon exposed a number of layoffs in the gaming division earlier this week, and now those cuts are apparently affecting the team behind it. New World: Eternal. Following the recently released Season 10: Nighthaven update, new content for New World: Aeternum will no longer be released.

The announcement has been published on the official website of the game from developer Amazon Games Orange County. This doesn't mean the game isn't offline yet, and the developers have indicated that it will remain online until 2026. Apart from this, there are no guarantees. But there is a small consolation for players: the Nighthaven update will now be free.

“The newly released Season 10 and Nighthaven update will be the final content release for New World on PC and consoles,” the developers said in a statement. “It was only after much deliberation that we came to this decision. To thank you, the New World community, for your support over the years, we've made Nighthaven available to you for free. To ensure that all New World players can experience this content, we are also making Rise of the Angry Earth free for all PC players.”

New World: Aeternum will remain available on PlayStation Plus for Extra and Premium subscribers, but even the developers aren't sure when that agreement will expire. The new phase of the game will continue to feature bug fixes and quality of life improvements, and players will be able to continue purchasing and downloading the game. World bosses, bonus weeks and “some seasonal events” will still be there, but holiday events have now been cancelled.

The development team also stated that they will “provide at least six months' notice before making any changes that will affect your ability to play New World: Aeternum.”
