Democrats favor Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Vice President Kamala Harris over a number of other prominent Democrats and even Santa Claus, according to a JL Partners poll for the Daily Mail released Sunday.

Other potential 2028 Democratic presidential candidates in the poll include New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has net support of 46 percent. Below her are Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, with a net favorability rating of 40 percent, and Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom, with a net favorability rating of 37 percent.
Democratic governors J.B. Pritzker of Illinois and Wes Moore of Maryland and former Texas Democratic Rep. Beto O'Rourke trail lower in the poll, with neither scoring net support above 23 percent.
The survey also included respondents willing to give up Christmas traditions such as sweaters (22 percent), Elf on the Shelf (15 percent) and matching family pajamas (14 percent). It also revealed that only 37 percent think Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
Overall favorability of Democrats fell sharply to 29 percent, according to a CNN poll published in March 2025, as the party faces feuds and difficulties of meeting fundraising goals.
