A leaked ratings board detailed Life is Strange: Reunion, a new game in the adventure series that focuses on the return of fan-favorite character Chloe.
Details of Life is Strange: Reunion were released by the European ratings board PEGI, which published plot summary has now been removed for an online game last night.
The existence of Reunion had long been rumored among Life is Strange fans, who were aware of the ongoing development of the franchise at troubled studio Deck Nine Games. Reunion is expected to be officially announced in the near future, with a launch to take place shortly thereafter.
Life is Strange: Reunion is especially notable for seeming to revive (or bring back) the character of Chloe, the blue-haired best friend (or love interest) of the original game, who you can sacrifice (or save) depending on your choices.
The latest Life is Strange game from Deck Nine. Double exposurereceived backlash from many of the series' core fans for returning to the story of original protagonist Max Caulfield in a reality in which Chloe survived the events of the first game in the franchise but did not appear in person. Fans of the couple's romance option were especially upset, as Double Exposure explained that the two characters were now separated, seemingly for good.
Alleged leaks from Deck Nine Games amid this backlash painted a picture of a troubled development, but also mentioned another game in development that does feature Chloe. Reunion is definitely that project – and it will be interesting to see if the final version is created based on Double Exposure's feedback.
“Chloe Price was Max Caulfield's time partner,” reads the game description posted by PEGI. “Losing her is Max’s greatest regret. Now Chloe has arrived at Caledonian University. Haunted by nightmares and impossible memories, Chloe needs Max's help. But Max is already in crisis: in three days a deadly inferno will destroy the campus.”
Other plot details include a character hallucinating about mushrooms and a scene where a building burns with people trapped inside. The game will reportedly begin with a recap of previous Life is Strange installments, in which it looks like we'll see Chloe during the events of the first game.
A digital deluxe version of the game will also be offered, containing additional outfits.
Life is Strange: Reunion has not yet been officially announced by publisher Square Enix, but it likely won't happen anytime soon. We have contacted the company for more information.
