New Jersey woman stabbed her 2-year-old brother in the chest over the weekend, authorities said Sunday.
Marlene Rodriguez, 20, was charged with attempted murder for an assault at a home in Brick Township, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release Sunday. The victim has not been publicly identified.
Officials said officers responded to the home near the Garden State Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. They found a 2-year-old boy with a stab wound to the chestand he was transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune, authorities said. His condition is listed as stable.
Investigators have established Rodriguez stabbed the boy in the chestAccording to the prosecutor's office. Police have not released evidence that led them to this conclusion.
Rodriguez remained in the Ocean County Jail on Monday ahead of a detention hearing later this week, according to online records. She was charged with attempted murder, child endangerment and two weapons offenses.
