Enix Square has officially announced its next Final Fantasy spin-off game, Dissidia, which will be released on mobile devices next year.
The Dissidia Final Fantasy duel was teased yesterday and then officially unveiled today, with registration now open for its closed beta (but only in the US and Canada).
While the trailer only hints at the expected gameplay, it will feature 3v3 battles where teams will strive to defeat monsters and bosses before their opponents.
There will also be some form of bravery system allowing characters to unleash their full power, all set in modern-day Tokyo and featuring a cast of stars from across the Final Fantasy series.
“Peaceful everyday life filled with chaos,” the trailer teases. “Those who came to confront the chaos were called “Ghosts.”
Ability illustrations will also be drawn by popular artists, and players will be able to dress up their warriors in different outfits.
The game will be released on iOS and Android devices next year. recruitment available for a closed beta test that will last until October 28th. The test will take place from November 7 to November 14 only on Android.
The trailer ends with the announcement of the new characters that will be joining the game.
The game's creative producer (and series veteran) Tetsuya Nomura shared a post about the game on social media, celebrating the long-running spin-off series.
“Duellum is the sixth installment in the series, and as you can see from the setting and visuals, it's another ambitious game filled with lots of new endeavors and ways for employees to challenge themselves,” he said.

The last Dissidia game was Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia, also released for mobile devices. However, this, like many other mobile games, was closed last February.
Square Enix is also preparing a Dragon Quest mobile game in the form of roguelike RPG Dragon Quest Smash/Grow.
