Netflix's Assassin's Creed show will reportedly explore Ancient Rome.

This is stated in a new report Nexus Point Newssources claim that the TV show will explore a time period hitherto untouched by the game series, and will feature characters such as Emperor Nero and Seneca the Younger. If this is true, the series will take place between 54-68 AD.

According to Netflix's official synopsis for Assassin's Creed, the series will “focus on a secret war between two shadowy factions—one seeking to determine the future of humanity through control and manipulation, and the other fighting to maintain free will.” The series follows its characters through key historical events as they battle to shape the destiny of humanity.”

Netflix's Assassin's Creed adaptation was first announced in 2020. The long-in-the-making series is helmed by Roberto Patino (DMZ, Westworld, Sons of Anarchy) and David Wiener (Halo, Homecoming, The Killing) who will serve as the series' creators, showrunners and executive producers. Filming is reported to begin next year in Italy.

As we reported earlier this week, Toby Wallace will play one of the main roles in the Assassin's Creed series.based on the Ubisoft games of the same name. Additionally, who Wallace will play has not yet been announced, but according to the outlet, the upcoming series will feature characters different from the games.
