Netflix no longer supports streaming from a mobile device to most TVs and streaming devices.
The news was first shared by users on the Chromecast Subreddit. a few weeks ago, with Android authority late detection Netflix support page confirmation of the change. As one Reddit user mentioned, Netflix “gave no warning” about this.
Additionally, Netflix's help page doesn't provide any reason for the move: One Reddit user claims that the company's customer service representative said devices with remote controls could no longer stream content, and the decision was made to “improve” the user experience.
Netflix's support page simply notes that “most TVs and TV streaming devices” are no longer supported. The streamer says you'll now need to use the remote that came with your TV or streaming device to navigate its platform.
The only exceptions are devices on older Chromecast devices or TVs that support Google Cast. Those people will be able to continue streaming from those devices—at least for now. However, this feature is not available for those on Netflix ad-supported plansthat is, only those who subscribe to Standard ($18.99 per month) or Premium ($23.99 per month).
