Netflix dropped Google Cast — now Apple TV for Android just brought it back

  • Apple TV app on Android now supports Google Cast
  • Netflix removed this feature a few weeks ago.
  • It's an easy way to send content to the right big screens.

With hits like For many, Severance pay, Ted LassoAnd Reduction, Apple TV is one of the best streaming services around, and also has some great news for Android users as the holiday season gets underway.

Apple TV launched on Android in February 2025, and while he was away Google Stream support at launch, the latest update coming out now not only fixes this but may also encourage some Netflix users to join the platform. On Android, you can now easily send the show or movie you're watching to your big screen Google Cast-enabled TV.

It's as simple as tapping the Google Cast icon on your screen and selecting the TV or display you want to send the image to. It then connects and starts playing, but the controls remain on your Android device in the Apple TV app.

Pretty simple – and not only is it a great way to easily get content on the big screen at home, but also for hotels with compatible TVs and for Airbnb rentals. You can easily watch something on TV without having to sign into a service on a screen that's not yours forever.
