Neil Young Pulls Music From Amazon: “Bezos Supports This Government”

Neil Youngwho recently wrote and recorded the anti-Trump song “Big Crime,” says he intends to retire his music Amazon and encourages fans to “shop local.”

In a post in my archive websiteYoung writes, “Forget Amazon. Soon my music won't be there,” and, referring to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, “Buy locally. Buy direct. Bezos supports this government. It doesn't support you or me.”

“Buying local is easy,” Young writes in a lengthy post that also criticizes Whole Foods and Facebook. “Support your community. Go to your local store. Don't go back to the big corporations that sold out America. We all have to give up something to save America from the era of corporate control it's entering. They need you to buy from them. Don't do it.”

Young, whose song “Big Crime” includes the lyrics “Don't want soldiers walking our streets/There's been big crime in Washington in the White House,” ends his website post: “They shut down our government, your income, your safety, your safety, your family's health. Bring America back together, stop buying from big corporations, support local businesses. Do it.” right. Show who you are.”

Young famously pulled his songs from Spotify in 2022 for a couple of years to protest what he said was misinformation spread about Covid-19 vaccines by podcaster Joe Rogan. In August this year, he closed his Facebook page due to parent company Meta's artificial intelligence policies.
