Neil Young Is Removing His Music from Amazon │ Exclaim!

Against the backdrop of the current Spotify Exodus that he was ahead of the curve in 2022 (but fell back, returning his music to the streamer in 2024), Neil Young announced that it would remove its catalog from the Amazon Music streaming service.

The time has come.
FORGET AMAZON.
Soon my music won't be there. It's easy to buy local. Support your community.
Go to your local store.
Don't go back to the big corporations that sold out America.
We will all have to give up something to save America from the era of corporate control it is entering.
They need you to buy from them.
Not.
They shut down our government
your income
your safety
health safety of your family.
Take America back
together, stop buying from
large corporations
support local business.
Do the right thing. Show who you are.

As already mentioned, the songwriter remote his music from Spotify after threatening to do so due to the exclusive distribution of Joe Rogan's podcast on the platform, which is known to spread misinformation about vaccines (among other things). Young got it back catalog on Spotify Last year, his decision came as Apple Music and Amazon “began providing the same misinformation podcast features” that he railed against at Spotify.

He explained at the time: “I can't just leave Apple and Amazon like I did with Spotify because my music won't be streaming at all for music fans.” I think he changed his mind! It remains to be seen whether Young means simply removing his music from the Amazon Music streaming platform or also removing his physical products from Amazon.
