As a team, Nebraska hit .450 for the game while Kansas hit .029. Nebraska's block was very active and equally accurate in hand placement and timing. As a team, Nebraska blocked 10 balls on the floor, leaving the Jayhawks no chance to get the ball back.
Behind the block the defense was just as stifling. The Huskers dug 48 balls, meaning nothing fell on the floor. The minute the block touched the ball, the Husker moved forward to dig and pass the ball into position for the set.
If you watched the television broadcast today, it was amazing to go from watching the back-and-forth and all-out action of the Texas A&M vs. Louisville game to the start of the Husker game. The striking moments seemed to be the speed with which a Husker got to the ball on defense, or the ease with which a Husker offensive player ripped the ball out of the hands of blockers. You can't really pinpoint the drastic difference in the game, but you can see it as a spectator.
Come Sunday, a new opponent will take to the court at the Devaney Center. We know that every match is different and that many factors influence the final result of the competition. Today's matchup against Kansas will reflect, but not predict, the outcome of the matchup against Texas A&M. However, today the Husker is celebrating a convincing victory.
