Natalia Bryant makes creative directorial debut with Lakers short film

Natalia Bryant made her debut as a creative director with a short film focusing on a topic she is intimately familiar with.

The 70-second spot is called “Forever Iconic: Purple and Gold Always,” and it pays homage to the Lakers' worldwide influence, something Bryant has experienced throughout her life as the eldest daughter of one of the Lakers' great icons. Kobe Bryant.

The film, released online Wednesday by the Lakers, is a fast-paced tribute to the team and its fans. It features several celebrities – a Dodgers superstar. Shohei Ohtani practices batting while wearing a Lakers cap; current Lakers star Luka Doncic shouts “Kobe!” the way he throws the towel into the basket; fashion designer Jeff Hamilton designs several Lakers jackets; actor Brenda Song obsessively watches and cheers on the team on his computer; Lakers Legend Magic Johnson declares, “It's show time, baby!”

Interspersed with footage of ordinary fans paying tribute to the team in their own way.

“This project was an amazing collaboration with such creative people, and we all came together to try to portray the impact of the Lakers not only in Los Angeles, but throughout the world,” Natalia Bryant said in a statement released by the Lakers. “Everyone has a connection to the Lakers. I hope those who already love the team will watch this and remember what pride is. And if you're not a Lakers fan, I hope you watch it and want to become one.”
