The state court system also announced an early adjournment on Friday, starting at 1 p.m.
Snow is expected to start between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. in the northern regions.
Widespread snowfall amounts of 4 to 9 inches are expected across the northern half of the state, with the chance of up to a foot of snow at higher elevations.
The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings for 11 counties: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren.

The heaviest snowfall is expected Friday night from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., when snowfall rates could reach 1 to 2 inches per hour in intense snow bands south of the New York City metro area, the weather service said.
Winter weather warnings have been issued for eight counties where sleet and freezing rain could mix with snow.
Counties south of I-195 are expected to receive 1 to 5 inches of mixed snow and sleet, with the possibility of icy conditions along and west of the Delaware River.

Lift the state of emergency, help respond to dangerous situations weather or in anticipation of it, according to the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, to prevent or alleviate “damage, loss, hardship or suffering.”
In declaring a state of emergency, the Governor is urging all non-essential personnel to stay off the roads to avoid interfering with law enforcement and emergency services.
Emergency declaration This does not mean that motorists will be ticketed simply for being on the roads and “essential” personnel are not defined by law.
Restriction on commercial vehicles
The commercial traffic restriction comes into force on Friday at 15:00 on the following highways in both directions:

NJ Route 440, Outerbridge Junction to I-287.
The restriction on the passage of commercial vehicles applies to:

All tractor trailers, but there are exceptions.

Empty straight trucks with CDL cargo

Passenger cars with trailers
This restriction does not apply to:

Atlantic City Expressway
