‘My 600-lb Life’ Was Injured In January Car Accident

Pauline Potterwhose struggle to lose hundreds of pounds was featured in a 2015 episode of the TLC show. My 600 lb life, died on Thursday, November 27, almost a year after a serious car accident left her with broken ribs and other injuries. She was 62.

Her death was announced by her son Dillon in a YouTube video (watch it below). He did not specify the city or state where his mother died, although she lived in both Sacramento and Houston.

“We were driving down a dark two-lane highway,” Dillon Potter says in a video of the January 2025 crash, “and a truck and trailer stopped in the middle of the road. We didn't see it because they didn't have their headlights on.”

“The guy claimed he was out of gas,” he continues, “but for some reason his light still didn't come on. We crashed into the trailer. Because he didn't have a light, we didn't notice until it was too late and we were right there.”

Pauline Potter was hospitalized several months after the accident, suffering from what Dillon said was a digestive problem due to a “blockage in the esophagus.” Polina, also suffering from Covid-19, was discharged from hospital last month and sent home for hospice treatment.

In 2011, Potter, weighing 643 pounds, was confirmed by Guinness World Records as the heaviest living woman. During her year on the TLC series, she lost 149 pounds and weighed 223 pounds as of 2022.

In an Instagram post in January 2022, Potter wrote: “I haven't posted here in a while but I'm proud to say that my weight is now down to 223 pounds, it's so nice to be able to not have to rely on someone else to do even the smallest things for me.”

Dillon Potter has created a GoFundMe page to help pay for cremation services. The date of the memorial service will be announced at a later date. Full details of survivors were not immediately available.
