In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Gold & Platinum Music Canada certification program, we have merged with Junos to create in a real unique ode to albums and songs that Canadians have loved most in the past five decades.
While artists and their teams go gold The carpet on the Juno Award gala concert, represented by Music Canada in Vancouver, will be met by 12-foot 24-foot walls, demonstrating 50 certified plaques with gold and platinum, one from each year of the history of the program.
The Gold & Platinum certification program notes the milestone of sales and streaming achievements of artists in Canada. Fifty years later, cult plaques are still the most recognizable symbol of commercial success in the musical industry.
The choice of 50 plaques to display in Junos was a difficult task, given that Music Canada has released more than 30,000 certificates over the years. Our team scanned archives and recent certificates by choosing one Canadian artist with Junos connection for each year of the history of the program.
The last selection of 50 alternating gold and platinum signs offers a unique picture in the variety of artists and music, which Canadians loved in five decades.
“Each of the artists marked on this wall earned his gold and platinum certification, because Canadian music listeners decided to buy their notes, buy their digital downloads and broadcast their music,” says Patrick Rogers, General Director of Music Canada. “As a voice of commercial music in Canada, we are proud that we celebrate the milestone of our program in Junos – an event, unlike any other – when the Canadian industry is going to fry the incredible talent that this country can offer.”
In addition to the coverage of the work of the great Canadian artists, the wall also offers to take a look at How Canadians listened to music. As the industry develops, also a program, certifying everything from physical singles, ringtones and DVDs to digital downloads, streaming audio and video.
It is also important to note that the selected plaques include certification, how it was released in the specified year – but many Of these songs and albums, they began to reach even higher levels of certification.
Since the Canadian musical industry is gathering in Vancouver to celebrate the 2025 Juno Award, we would like to thank the team in Karas for providing us with the opportunity to shed light on our program. Be sure to read our gold and platinum wall on March 28 on the gala concert of Juno Awards and follow Canada's music on social networks to find out more.
