Coros has just launched the Apex 4, a smartwatch that it says is “specially designed for mountain sports.” The device comes with a number of new features including a new design, improved GPS algorithms, improved battery life and more. Coros has also added an updated processor and satellite chipset, which provides improved performance that could help it compete with some best running watch on the market.
I am writing to press releaseAccording to Koros, the new wearable device “delivers incredible battery life, accurate GPS and lightning-fast mapping, all in a lightweight, premium and rugged design.”
Starting with the design, it includes grade 5 titanium with sapphire crystal and a memory in pixel (MIP) display. The battery now lasts up to 65 hours in the All-Systems GPS (46mm) model or up to 41 hours in the 42mm version, providing plenty of power while you're running or hiking the trails.
On the software side, Coros GPS algorithms have been updated to provide more accurate route planning during training. Map details such as street names and topographical aspects are now displayed much faster, and there are dedicated modes for “trail running, climbing and cross-country skiing, as well as advanced training, sleep, recovery and readiness analysis.”
Designed for mountain sports
The Apex is one of Coros' best sports wearables, and previous models have earned praise and positive reviews from TechRadar. Coros hopes that with Apex 4 it can continue this trend.
The company says the Apex 4 is designed specifically for mountain sports, including trail running, rock climbing and ski touring. This means some of its features are geared toward these activities, including 3D terrain imaging, fall detection, real-time weather data, and more.
Coros has released the Apex 4 in two sizes: a 46mm model and a 42mm version. The former starts at $479 and the latter at $429. Both are available now on the Coros website and third-party retailers.
