The Razr Fold will feature a 50MP triple camera. Some foldable devices, like the Galaxy Z Fold 7, have flagship-level core sensors, but others are a big step up due to space constraints. Motorola will use a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia sensor as the main sensor, along with a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle (with macro) and a 50-megapixel 3x telephoto lens. The camera module adds a fair amount of bulk to the rear panel – it appears to be almost twice as thick as the phone in this area, but Moto hasn't released any official measurements to confirm this.
Artificial intelligence software, because of course
Motorola offers some hints about how the software on this phone will work, but unsurprisingly there's a lot we don't know. For example, if it comes out in the summer, does that mean it will run Android 17? Google has changed its 2025 release schedule to accommodate the glut of new Android devices that come out every summer.
We're also told that the Razr Fold's software will take advantage of the form factor with “flexible layouts, responsive interfaces” and “multitasking improvements.” The company declined to specify how any of them would work. Motorola will continue to offer AI features like Chase Me and Pay Attention, but they will be joined by a new AI experience called Qira, which the company says will be available on Motorola and Lenovo devices.
The idea is that Qira remembers your context across other devices, allowing you to take actions in apps, create documents, and receive supposedly useful reminders. Qira will be coming to Lenovo laptops soon, followed shortly thereafter by Motorola phones in the Edge and Razr family. A new AI platform based on Microsoft and Perplexity technologies will be available on the Razr Fold at launch.
We also have no idea what Motorola will charge for this phone. Most book-style foldable phones sell for around $2,000, and the components that go into these phones aren't getting any cheaper. In fact, many of them may be will become much more expensive in 2026. When pressed, Motorola refuses to even give an estimate for the suggested retail price. We should get more details on the Razr Fold's specs and pricing as the summer launch window approaches.
