Modder Adds Thomas The Tank Engine To Morrowind, Hints At Legal Threats From Mattel

If you've ever seen mods that add Thomas the Tank Engine, Fallout 4, Abode of the Evil Villageand The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, largely thanks to the work of a modder known as Trainwiz. Now Trainvis struck again, placing Thomas in The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowindwhile hinting that he was the target of Mattel's grievances due to his work.

Trainwiz releases Really Useful Cliffracers mod Nexus Modsin which the flying cliff racers are replaced by Thomas the Tank Engine. Trainvis also left comments on the page that appeared to be a direct challenge to Mattel.

“I made a mod that replaces rock climbers with Thomas the Tank Engine,” wrote Trainwiz. “I am unable to learn lessons when it comes to corporations because I fundamentally do not consider toy company executives or media executives to be human.”

“Between working on a game and dying from various random injuries, I sometimes feel like I need to milk a particular joke to its inevitable end,” Trainvis added. “I will do this no matter how many legal threats, actual threats, black vans with a Mattel logo or severed Barbie heads are sent to me in the mail.”

As noted IGNtold Trainvis Face In 2019, his Thomas the Tank Engine mod for Fallout 4 caught the attention of Mattel's lawyers, and it doesn't sound like a pleasant experience.

“I was in so much trouble,” Trainweese said. “Mattel really wants me dead at the moment, which is why the Fallout 4 mod can't be found on any proper website.”

Mattel may be skeptical about how Trainwiz works, but the modder was positively reviewed by Bethesda to. And despite the recent release The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Updatean ambitious fan-made reimagining Skiblivonis nearing release after 10 years in development.
