All the time I was playing Hollow Knight: Silk SongI didn't really miss the less-than-titled knight from the first game. I really like this bug, it's just that Hornet is made for a fairly likable protagonist (even if I think the game has a number of problems beyond just being potentially unfairly difficult). However, I doubt this will be a universal feeling, and that's where this handy mod comes in, allowing you to play as the Knight again, but in Shelksongcomes into play.
A mod that was originally published by a user on Github. MCXGK3but available on Nexus Mods if you prefer this modhub, honestly it does what it claims to do! The description is just as simple: “This is a mod for Hollow Knight Silk song. This allows you to control the knight in the game.” What else do you need to know?
Well, it's not just an aesthetic change. The mod also brings back the Knight's full moveset, and you can even equip him with various enchantments from the original game. Honestly this seems pretty comprehensive, just keep in mind that metroidvania wasn't designed with the Knight's playstyle in mind, so this could be a hindrance.
Apparently there are “some things” in the mod that may prevent you from getting to Act 3 “or even completing the game,” so take that into account as well. There are also some bugs – such as ones that make the game run poorly rather than ones you'll befriend or kill – meaning this is a mod you might want to skip if you want the game to run smoothly, or if you're playing for the first time. Still sounds better than all those horny Hornet mods.
