A Miss Universe contestant is recovering from a bad fall during the pageant.
In a shocking moment during the preliminary round of evening gowns on November 19, Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry took a violent fall from the stage.
In a video posted by Meekii Modez on InstagramHenry walks across the stage in a stunning orange dress and high heels. Posing from the front, she continues to walk towards the left side of the stage when she falls.
People can be seen standing up in shock to make sure she is okay.
Additional video online shows a group of people who come to her aid and remove her. on a stretcher.
Hours later, the Miss Universe Jamaica organization released a statement offering an update on Henry. The organization confirmed that she “survived a fall from the main stage while wearing her evening gown” ahead of this weekend's Miss Universe finals in Thailand.
“She was rushed to Paolo Rangsit Hospital where she was treated by medical specialists who reported that she did not have any life-threatening injuries,” a statement posted on the website said. Instagram reads. “However, they are continuing to conduct tests to ensure she makes a full recovery.”
The organization asked people to “remain optimistic, keep her in prayer and send positive thoughts as she receives the medical care she needs.” He also thanked people for their outpouring of love and support.
Before the accident, Henry participated in a national costume and swimsuit competition.
Miss Universe Organization President Raul Rocha also shared an update on his Instagramwriting that he had left the hospital where Henry was being treated.
“I was there with her family and her and luckily she has no broken bones and is being well cared for,” he wrote in part.
74th Miss Universe Pageant began with the awards ceremony on November 5th.
The pageant got off to a rocky start after Miss Mexico. Fatima Bosch spoke out after a quarrel with the head of the competition, Navat Itzaragrisil, who criticized and singled her out at an official event. The Thai businessman and national director of Miss Universe Thailand apologized to Bosch after Rocha also condemned his behavior.
