If you've ever wanted to live in an endless field of nothing, with the gray pallor of death as far as the eye can see, you should consider playing Minecraft. YouTuber Banclam has come up with a crazy challenge that's sure to satisfy your need for sadness.
“I'm going to try to survive in a world that's 100% bedrock, which is impossible,” Bunklum states in a recent video, since nothing in Minecraft can come from an indestructible substance. “Survive only on the rock is impossible – but can I survive with only a bonus chest? A masochist from Minecraft decided to find out.
Eventually, Bunlum rests his weary arms, steps back, and remarks, “A lot has changed in my world in the last couple of 100 days. [in Minecraft]. This wasn’t going to stop anytime soon.” Here he recalls the Roman emperor and Stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius, who once wrote: “Stand firmly, like a rock against which, although the waves break, it stands still, and they finally fall.”
“I've never seen a Minecraft challenge so severe that it would force anyone to resort to Stoic philosophy,” says one. YouTube comment with over 1000 likes.
“Unfortunately, there will never be grass in this world,” Banklum says monotonously, unmoved by the tragedy of the desert surrounding him. He later manages to build the most hostile looking mob farm in existence, and it quickly becomes overrun with even more slimes and skeletons.
“Only time will tell if it was all worth it,” he concludes, unimpressed.
