“When I was younger, I thought, 'If I don't have a date on Saturday night, I'm a failure.' I failed.” And now as you get older and smarter, you say, “Well, I don’t care.” And no one cares if I do the same,” she added.

Kaling noted that she believes one needs to be “recklessly optimistic” when dating an older person. She explained that she was “set” and not as “pliable” as she was when she was younger.

“I'm happy with my three kids and my screwed-up relationship mindset,” she said. “I'm fine being single.”
