This became clear on Friday when Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced that O'Shea would return as the team's head coach next season.

O'Shea is a two-time CFL Coach of the Year and a six-time Gray Cup champion. He will begin his 12th season as the Bombers' head coach in 2026.
Winnipeg made the playoffs nine straight seasons and made five straight Gray Cup appearances between 2019 and 2025, winning the first two.
This season, the Blue Bombers finished the regular season 10–8 before being eliminated by the Montreal Alouettes in the semifinal round of the playoffs.

O'Shea was out of contract and the announcement of his return was Toronto Argonauts are looking for a new head coach after Ryan Dinwiddie left to become coach and general manager of the Ottawa Redblacks.
Dinwiddie won two Gray Cup titles with the Argonauts during his five years as head coach in Toronto. He leaves the Argos fourth on the coach's list in wins.
O'Shea, a 55-year-old from North Bay, Ont., was a linebacker for the Argonauts from 1996-99 and 2001-08 and Toronto's special teams coordinator from 2010-13 before becoming head coach of the Blue Bombers.
The Bombers also announced that general manager Kyle Walters, who is also out of contract, will return to Winnipeg next season.
