Menaces à caractère sexuel: un joueur important des Alouettes libéré avant la demi-finale de l’Est

Sean Oakman, an important member of the Montreal Alouettes' defensive line, was released by the team after being suspended by the Canadian Football League (CFL) hours before the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The district said the 33-year-old athlete violated its policies on gender-based violence and harassment. An external investigation has been launched.

Early details point to a dispute that escalated between Oakman and his partner. The football player threatened to send sexually explicit content to her minor child.

“The Canadian Football League takes any violation of its gender-based violence and harassment policies very seriously. Our policies are clear and our commitment to upholding them is unwavering. Following a review, we have decided to suspend Mr. Oakman for an indefinite period,” commissioner Stuart Johnston said in a statement.

A few minutes after the publication of this statement, the Alouettes announced that they had released the American.

“We maintain the highest level of integrity and respect for all members of our organization, both on and off the field,” explained general manager Danny Maccioscia. “We have decided to release Sean Oakman because his actions are contrary to our core values.”

Oakman was recently voted to the 2025 All-Star Team. He finished his first campaign with the Alouettes with 34 defensive tackles and six quarterback sacks.

During his five-season CFL career, he also played for the Toronto Argonauts and Edmonton Elks.
