First Lady Melania Trump joined her husband, the President Donald Trumpat the White House Congressional Ball on Thursday night, and hinted at an upcoming initiative that the commander in chief appeared to know nothing about.
Taking the podium to address guests at the annual holiday party, Melania thanked the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Mike Johnson for help in passing Law to remove it in April this year, an offshoot of its anti-bullying program “Be Best,” which criminalizes the distribution of “deepfake” images and revenge porn.
The First Lady then left her husband in complete disarray, saying, “I hope you will be happy to support my new legislative initiative in 2026. Some of you already know about it because it's already in development.”

After replacing her at the Golden Eagle lectern, Trump said: “Well, I just heard about it for the first time. The only thing I can tell you is I know one thing for sure, Mr. Speaker. It will be great for the kids, okay?”
“I don't know what she's doing, but I know it's going to be great for the kids because she loves kids and … she has a wonderful boy and she's very proud of her boy,” Trump continued, referring to their 19-year-old son. The First Lady's office has not yet publicly revealed any details about the initiative Melania hinted at. Independent contacted the White House for more information.
One project she definitely has coming up is a $40 million Amazon documentary. Melaniadirector Brett Ratner, who directed the film Rush hour franchise (which the president recently expressed interest in reviving). Ratner was effectively driven out of Hollywood after a number of famous actresses accused him of sexual assault, which he denied.

The new film that will be will be released early next yearfollows Melania in the 20 days leading up to her husband's second inauguration in Washington in January 2024.
Although the first lady has still remained a relatively distant figure during her husband's second term, she has resumed public tours of the White House and hosted events such as the Easter Egg Roll and the Congressional Picnic. She traveled with the president to survey flood damage in central Texas in July and participated in a state visit to Britain in September.
Most recently she took part in Halloween And Christmas responsibilities and attended North Carolina Military High School with the second lady Usha Vance.
She is also credited with guiding her husband's thoughts regarding Ukraine war, writing a personal letter to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin calling for the compassion Trump handed him at the Alaska summit in August, and trying open a return channel to the Kremlin for dialogue on the release of children abducted during the conflict.
Melania also wasn't afraid to speak her mind behind the scenes, and reportedly objected to Trump's demolition of the East Wing of the White House to make way for its $300 million ballroom. However, the president has since said that she has come to the idea.
