Matt Damon returns to theaters next year in Christopher Nolan's epic retelling Odyssey. The Jason Bourne star, who has directed numerous blockbusters to date, knows what a good film is, and Nolan's performance is top notch.
Talking to EmpireDamon talked a little about what it was like on the set of the mythological production. “I can say without exaggeration that this was the best experience of my career. I saw a horse on the beach and thought, “Fuck.” It was so great,” he states.
“We filmed it [Trojan horse] next week and I ask, “How are you going to do this?” – Damon recalls. – AND [Nolan] says: “I don’t know. We’ll just go there and figure it out.”
But, as is typical of Nolan, practicality is key. Just as a real Boeing 737 collided with a building in Tenet for added realism, there is real physicality to the monsters and beasts. “If you have an existential crisis when you walk past the sirens and they tie you to the mast, it's here. If it says you're running for your life from Cyclops, you'll be running for your life,” Damon explains. “Chris doesn't hide the ball.”
He is joined by a stacked cast including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Jon Bernthal, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson and many, many more. The Odyssey will be released in theaters on July 17, 2026.
