Master of Piece Will Make Its Move on Steam on 4th February

Step into a medieval kingdom in Master of Piece

Independent studio IM GAME has announced that Master of Piece, the GDWC award-winning chess roguelike, will be entering Steam Early Access for PC on February 4th. The game will be available for $14.99 with a 10% discount at launch for the first week. With over 30,000 wishlists and over 22,000 demo downloads on Steam, the game has gained strong momentum ahead of its debut. Ahead of the release, the Early Access trailer is live now, so be sure to check it out right below.

Master of Piece is set in a dark gothic medieval world that is slowly being consumed by a mysterious black fog. Players take on the role of a commander leading a band of mercenaries through this crumbling land, making one decision after another. Instead of traditional cards, the game replaces deck-building mechanics with mercenary chess pieces placed on a tactical grid. Each unit has its own traits that come into play during combat, encouraging careful positioning, timing, and synergy.

Strategy unfolds through the combination and development of the mercenary's abilities throughout each playthrough, where every encounter feels deliberate and calculated. As players progress deeper, they uncover pieces of the world's lost history, unlock new commanders, and develop long-term progression systems that persist between playthroughs. Combining board game-inspired tactics with deep customization and replay-focused design, Master of Piece promises to deliver a thoughtful roguelike experience rooted in precision, planning, and adaptation.
