Marvel Rivals gets its first ever PVE mode when the zombies arrive on October 23rd

Marvel Rivals There's finally a PVE mode that pits five of 42 stylish and quirky caped and non-caped crusaders against… zombies. Ah, zombies, the real heroes of any video game, who search for the phone in a fast cooperative wave attack mode (while messing around a little cross promotion). AI and character design supposed look primitive, stupid. Experience supposed feel like you're kicking a bucket of porridge, ass. These are mindless vagabonds, not the Sinister Six.

I probably don't look kindly on the NetEase developers. If I'm unkind, it's because I'm still recovering from the corpse-like brotherly bonds and desperate puns in the first 2 minutes and 14 seconds of the promotional trailer. Do yourself a favor and skip to 2 minutes 15. I'll summarize the rest below.

In Marvel Rivals' Zombies mode, Thor, Blade, Magik, Jeff Land Shark and the Punisher cut, stab and blast galloping hordes of corpses heading to battle the zombies Namor and the Queen of the Dead, aka Scarlet Witch: Romero Edition. Each hero's abilities have been adapted to the new mode. Blade controls the crowd with jumping moonblades. Jeff can make an underwater attack, separating the ghouls like the Red Sea. Magik can go crazy as his second-in-command as the Dark Child, Thor can turn into a walking strike turret, and the Punisher has a gun again.

It's billed as an old-fashioned procession of massive combat and boss battles. I smell a faint smell left 4 Dead Judging by the footage, this is most likely a pure projection. The mode launches on October 23, and while it's obviously remarkable that such a big game is taking place in PVE, I suspect it'll keep you busy for about fifteen minutes before you shrug your weary shoulders and resume the process of turning the Human Torch into spent kindling.
